Torun may not be the biggest or most popular city in Poland, but it quickly became one of our favourite in the country. This medieval town is in the northern region of Poland, somewhere between Lodz and Gdansk and we’re so glad we were able to visit. Torun is largely known for two things: Copernicus and gingerbread but there is plenty more to see and love so we’re sharing our favourite 19 fun things to do in Torun.
One of my favourite things about travel is how you can end up loving places you may have never even heard of before and that was exactly what happened during our visit to Malbork Castle. We didn’t expect our travels in Poland to take us to so many beautiful cities and we were even more surprised to hear that we would have the chance to visit the largest (by surface area) castle in the world. Our day was inexpensive, uncomplicated and a lot of fun so we’d definitely recommend this as a day trip and have gathered everything you need to know about how to visit Malbork Castle on a budget.
The port city of Gdansk is so far north in Poland that I’m sure many miss out on this gem while exploring Europe. But, please, do yourself a favour and add Gdansk to your itinerary if you can. The picturesque setting and colourful architecture make this city one of Poland’s favourite destinations, especially among locals looking to enjoy their holidays. We’re glad we were able to spend some time in the city and have gathered up our best tips in this guide to Gdansk for those who want to enjoy a true Polish gem!
If we’re being honest here, Wes and I arrived to Poland with no expectations. We had very little knowledge about the country and our plan was to complete our Workaway job and get out. We thought we could take advantage of a cheap flight to Warsaw and then venture off to more exotic places in Europe. There, I said it. But it’s true and Poland caught us completely off guard! First by the amazing people, then the delicious food followed by the beautiful cities. Before you know it, 5 weeks had gone by and we still hadn’t had enough of Poland. So naturally we want to share the beauty of these Polish cities with as many people as we can. I’m sure we’ll be back someday but, until then, here are 9 cities you need to visit in Poland.
