Our weekend hike to Mosor quickly became one of my favourite day trips from Split. It’s fun, affordable and a great way to appreciate some of the beautiful scenery along the Dalmatian coast. A highlight for us was the local lunch we enjoyed at a mountain lodge in the middle of a forest and today we’re sharing all you need to know when planning your hike to Mosor.
I had first read about Isla Holbox, Mexico in a travel magazine that listed the island as ‘this year’s paradise‘. One Google search later and I was convinced: I have to find a way to add Holbox to our itinerary. Wes and I were travelling in Mexico for a total of 6 months and, since we were flying out of Cancun, I thought the island would be a great little treat before heading back to Canada. Funny enough, after reading that article, I kept hearing about Holbox over and over again. It was either from a backpacker in our hostel dorm or a local tour guide or through people’s photos on Instagram. After enjoying a week of basking in the sunshine, swimming in the shallow teal green waters and living the ultimate beach bum life, I can now see why Isla Holbox is rumoured to be the next Tulum. But now I’m just not sure if that’s such a good thing after all…
Travelling the world on a budget is tough! And I’m not even being sarcastic. Sure, it’s easy in small towns and budget-friendly cities but it can be a challenge the second you arrive at a popular tourist hot spot. It’s a challenge we experienced a lot in Mexico especially visiting places like Cabo, Cancun and even Puerto Vallarta. We try not to let this stop us from exploring these cities because we enjoy the task of finding cheap (and even free!) things to do so that we can share what we learn with other travellers. And since we’ve come to know this resort town quite well, here are 20 cheap things to do in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.
With only a few days left in the city, we set out to find the best free Instagram spots in Toronto. We love taking photos and it’s no secret that we’re on a tight budget so it was fun to explore downtown Toronto and take pictures of the most photogenic (and free!) spots around.
Crystal clear beaches with unbelievably blue waters, plus scenic hikes and lush green forests. Could this be Canada?! Better yet, is this gem only a road trip away from Toronto?! No one knows quite like Canadians just how precious summer days and this summer everyone seems to be talking about Tobermory and the Bruce Peninsula in Ontario. So for anyone looking to explore the great outdoors and enjoy more than just a patio, here’s everything you need to know about camping at Bruce Peninsula National Park this summer.
If you’re looking for a unique experience that really embodies the spirit of Mexico, may we suggest Xochimilco? A visit to these canals makes for a great day trip from Mexico City and can be done on the cheap without a tour. But like most major tourist attractions in Mexico, you run the risk of getting ripped off. To help with that, here’s everything we learned after visiting Xochimilco without a tour.
