Last weekend, someone asked me what I would do if I won 20 million dollars. It only took a few seconds for me to smile and answer, “The same thing I’m doing now: I quit my job and bought a one-way ticket to Mexico.”
Sometimes, what we really want in life seems so unrealistic that we would need to win a jackpot before making it happen. And yet we hear it all the time: “Make your dreams a reality… Do more of what makes you happy… Tomorrow is not guaranteed.” For some, it’s not logical to pack everything into a backpack and set off for an undetermined amount of time. But for Wes and I, it’s like winning the lottery!
And so we’ve begun on our next big adventure and boarded a one-way flight to Mexico. It’s no coincidence that we’re heading south just as winter was making it’s way to Canada. We picked sand over snow this year and will be wearing swimsuits instead long johns.
Our adventures start this week in Cabo San Lucas and our plan is to eventually end up in Cancun. We used this site called Travellerspoint to map out our route so far:
Nearly everything is subject to change which is exciting but also slightly nerve-wracking for someone who likes to plan ahead. We don’t have a definite timeline and so we’re really looking forward to spending more time in each city and really getting to know the surrounding areas.
So, what comes after Cancun? That’s a question neither of us can answer just yet but we’ve got 6 months of travel insurance and intend to make good use of it.
